Felix Gottlieb

Felix Gottlieb studierte am Moskauer Konservatorium bei Alexander Goldenweiser, Theodor Gutman und Emil Gilels. In seinem ersten Studienjahr gewann er beim Wettbewerb des Tschaikowsky-Konservatoriums den ersten Preis für die beste Mozart-Interpretation.

Beim fünften Internationalen Tschaikowsky-Wettbewerb wurde Felix Gottlieb als bester Kammermusik-Pianist ausgezeichnet, worauf viele Konzertreisen in Europa, den USA und Japan folgten, unter anderem mit den Cellisten Daniel Shafran und Alexander Rudin, den Geigern Vladimir Spivakov, Sergej Stadler, Alexander Vinnitski, dem Flötisten Aurele Nicolet und der kanadischen Sängerin Gaelin Gabora. Zahlreiche Schallplattenaufnahmen (bei EMI, RCA VICTOR , ebs, Art & Electronics, MELODYA) erschienen unter anderem mit Liedern von Johannes Brahms, Franz Schubert, Richard Strauss, Claude Debussy, Arnold Schönberg und Hugo Wolf, und kammermusikalischen Werken von Franz Schubert, Frederic Chopin, Robert Schumann, Richard Strauss und Sergei Rachmaninoff.

Seit 1991 hatte Felix Gottlieb eine Professur an der Musikhochschule Stuttgart und von 1995 bis 2011 an der Musikhochschule Freiburg. Seine Schüler errangen Preise bei nationalen und internationalen Klavierwettbewerben.

Felix Gottlieb ist Gründer und Vorsitzender der von ihm im Jahr 2009 gegründeten EMIL GILELS FOUNDATION.

Felix Gottlieb received his early musical education in Riga. He continued his studies at the Tchaikovsky Conservatoire in Moscow with Alexander Goldenweiser, Theodor Gutman and the famous pianist Emil Gilels. In a competition at the Tchaikovsky-Conservatoire in his first year, he won first prize for the best Mozart interpretation.

At the Fifth International Tchaikovsky Competition he was honoured as the best chamber music pianist. Many concert tours in Europe, the United States of America and Japan followed, among with the cellist Daniel Shafran, the violinists Vladimir Spivakov and Sergej Stadler, the flutist Aurele Nicolet and the Canadian singer Gaelin Gabora.

In addition he produced numerous recordings for EMI, RCA VICTOR, ebs, Art & Electronics, MELODYA, including Lieder by Johannes Brahms, Franz Schubert, Richard Strauss, Claude Debussy, Arnold Schönberg and Hugo Wolf, and chamber music works by Franz Schubert, Frederic Chopin, Robert Schumann, Richard Strauss and Sergei Rachmaninoff. In 1991 Felix Gottlieb received a professorshipat the University of Music in Stuttgart and from 1995 to 2011 has taught at the University of Music in Freiburg. His pupils win prizes in national and international piano competitions.

Felix Gottlieb is the founder and Chairman of the EMIL GILELS FOUNDATION which he established in 2009.
